File Copying for Particular .mkv Files Stops When Copying to External Hard Drive

File Copying for Particular .mkv Files Stops When Copying to External Hard Drive

I downloaded a few .mkv (≈1.4GB) videos using uTorrent (that doesn't mean that it is illegal!). Now I want to copy those files from the D: partition on my laptop to an external hard drive (500GB; drive X:).
The problem is that most of these videos stop copying at certain points, when I copy to this particular hard drive. For example, one of the files always stops at exactly the 79th MB. Note that I am able to copy other files to the hard drive without any problems.
When I tried copying the file to my 2GB USB flash drive it copied successfully. For copying the files I used both the default Windows default file copier, RoboCopy and TeraCopy. I tried re-muxing the video with mkvmerge and VLC Media Player, but it didn't change a thing.
Any help would be appreciated.
